You can’t imagine how many times I have heard “I want a security guard who is big and mean looking”. 
This usually happens after a property or issue has been neglected for so long that it spirals out of control. At that point, the only solution they can think of is to throw intimidation or a show of force at it in hopes of stopping the overwhelming security problems and preventing further damage.
What is needed is poise and bearing.
The way a security officer carries themselves through their appearance, demeanor, and professionalism has a much more lasting impact. That approach will always go further than relying on someone who just looks intimidating and speaks harshly to everyone.
